The majority of low- and moderate-income families spend more than 30 percent of their monthly income on housing. That means they often have to forgo other basic necessities, such as food and healthcare.

The NHP Foundation believes that affordable housing should not merely be a dream for America's families. We work for change every day by building, rehabilitating, and providing affordable housing to more than 20,000 residents in 23 communities across the United States.

But we don't stop when the buildings are in place. We also empower residents to break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient through a variety of programs that focus on education, health, and wellness.
